Our Art The types of arts and crafts that we do are soap carving, chain mail, portraits, calligraphy and brass rubbing. At first, we learned how to do each project but now we work on finishing them. Once we are finished, we get them checked off by Mr. Fredericksen. We learned a little about the history of each project. Soap carving was a form of art used to make stamps and sculptures. Chain mail was used for armor. Portraits were made because nobody had cameras back then and calligraphy was a form of writing due to the shape of the feather quill's end. Most of these projects take time and practice. Some people are naturally good at it while others need more practice, but everyone seems to like it and has fun. The most challenging project in my opinion was soap carving because it rook a lot of time and some people just wanted to rush through it and ended up messing it up.
